Ward adds strong outings at Clay County, Hancock County and Boone

Tim Ward returned to action on Monday as he was pulling double duty at Clay County Fair Speedway (Spencer, Iowa) in the Modified and Stock Car ranks for The $250,000 Challenge.

Despite an early exit in the Modified opener, Ward was able to score a Top-5 in his Stock Car qualifier. He climbed seven positions in the 20-lap prelim to finish fourth.

Back at the 3/8-mile oval on Wednesday after Mother Nature washed on Tuesday’s program, Tim’s night was over in the Stock Car ranks with a sixth-place showing in his LCQ but a sixth-to-second run in his Modified heat positioned him nicely for the $1,500-to-win A-Main. He capped off his evening with a fifth-place finish, chasing Tom Berry Jr., Jordan Grabouski, Ricky Thornton Jr., and Brandon Beckendorf to the checkers.

Adding a pair of runner-up finishes on Friday and Saturday, Ward backed up a second-place outing on Friday evening at Hancock County Speedway (Britt, Iowa) with a sixth-to-second display in Saturday’s A-Main at Boone Raceway (Boone, Iowa).

Sunday's scheduled stop at Benton County Speedway (Vinton, Iowa) fell to wet weather.
