Tim Ward
Top-10 finish in Gateway Dirt Nationals prelim at The Dome
One of 60 Modified entries invited to the seventh annual Gateway Dirt Nationals, Tim Ward invaded The Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Mo.) on Friday to compete in his preliminary night aboard his Toby K’s Hideway No. 4TW Modified.
After missing a transfer spot by one car in his heat, Ward raced into his prelim feature with a runner-up showing in his B-Main. With a $3,000 prize up for grabs, Tim advanced forward eight spots in the 20-lapper to register a 10th-place finish.
On Saturday, Tim dropped one spot in his heat to finish fifth, relegating him into the lone consolation race. With only the race winner making the show, Ward stormed into the $10,000-to-win Gateway Dirt Nationals with a sixth-to-first run. Rolling off on the 10th row for the 30-lap finale, Tim climbed four positions to place 15th.
