Ward rolls to second in Race for Hope 71 at Batesville Motor Speedway
With the Charlie Clark Memorial at Park Jefferson Speedway postponed a week by weather, Tim Ward trekked south to Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Ark.) to compete in the seventh annual Race for Hope 71.
Lined up on the third row of his prelim on Thursday via a heat race victory, Ward muscled forward one spot in the 20-lapper to register a fifth-place finish.
On Friday, Tim followed up a third-place finish in his heat with an 18th-to-7th run in the preliminary feature.
Rolling off third for Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win Hope for 71 finale, Ward led laps 17-59 but couldn’t contain hometown standout Wendell Wallace in the final laps of 71-lap affair. He trailed 0.772 seconds behind Wallace with Jacob Hobscheidt, Jeff Taylor, and Zane DeVilbiss rounding out the Top-5.
